New chapter. Same questionable Football Manager decisions.
Hello everyone, and welcome to the brand-new home of CoxieFM!
If you’ve followed my Football Manager journey over the years, you might recognise the name. If you’re new around here, pull up a chair, grab a cuppa and get comfortable. You’re in for a ride!
I’ve been blogging my Football Manager adventures since 2020, originally building up a WordPress site with over 200 blog posts. Yes, over 200! That’s a lot of hours spent writing about football, celebrating last-minute winners, moaning about referees and wondering why my supposedly world-class striker couldn’t hit a barn door from six yards.
Like many others, the COVID years were a particularly busy time for me. With plenty of time on my hands, Football Manager became a great escape, and blogging gave me a way to share my saves, connect with other managers and become part of a fantastic community.
Over the years, I’ve also shared my adventures on Medium and popped up from time to time on the Sports Interactive (SI) Forums, particularly in the Career Updates section.
You can still find some of my previous adventures over on my Medium page:

A little history…
Throughout my Football Manager journey, I’ve enjoyed trying different challenges and creating stories around the clubs I manage.
From taking my beloved Walsall FC on the road to the Premier League in Walsall or Nothing, to experimenting with the regional recruitment restrictions of The Regionnaire Challenge, there’s always been something new to try.
More recently, FM26 saw me venture abroad with The Riga Revolution, before returning to the non-league pyramid with Forged in Gornal: Grassroots to Greatness.
That last one sums up the sort of football I enjoy: underdogs, building something from nothing, finding hidden gems and seeing just how far a club can go with the right recruitment, a bit of patience and probably far too much tinkering with tactics.
Of course, Football Manager rarely goes entirely to plan. That’s half the fun!
So, why a new website?
After being on and off the blogging scene during FM26, it felt like the right time for a fresh start.
Away from the virtual dugout, I’ve been making a pretty significant change in real life too. After 20 years in the Royal Navy, I made the decision to leave military service and begin a new chapter in civilian life.
It’s been a big transition, and understandably, my time and attention have been elsewhere.
But with FM27 on the horizon, I’ve decided it’s time to dust off the keyboard, get the blog back up and running, and see what adventures await.
This new WordPress site will be the central home for my future Football Manager content. Think of it as a fresh coat of paint on the dressing room before the new season begins.
Hopefully, this one lasts longer than some of my managerial appointments!
What can you expect from CoxieFM?
The plan is simple: share the journey, tell some stories and enjoy the game.
Here’s what I’m hoping to bring to the site:
Career updates: Follow my saves from the opening press conference to hopefully lifting some silverware.
Long-term challenges: Rebuilds, underdogs, non-league adventures and ambitious projects.
Recruitment and wonderkids: Searching for those hidden gems who can transform a club without bankrupting it.
Tactics and experiments: Trying new ideas, tweaking formations and occasionally wondering why I ever changed a winning system.
Community content: Connecting with fellow bloggers, creators and Football Manager fans along the way.
I’m not here to pretend I’m the next Pep Guardiola. I’m just a Football Manager enthusiast who loves a good story, a challenging save and a bit of banter.
There will be good seasons, bad seasons, brilliant signings, absolute transfer disasters and the inevitable moment when a team sitting bottom of the league suddenly turns into prime Barcelona against me.
You know how it goes!
Beyond the dugout
For those who don’t know me, I’m based in the Black Country in the UK. I’m a proud Royal Navy veteran, a Walsall FC supporter and a McLaren fan in Formula 1.
Supporting the Saddlers and following McLaren probably explains why I’ve developed a fairly high tolerance for disappointment. At least Football Manager lets me blame the tactics!
I’m also keen to get involved with the wider FM community again, discover what everyone else is playing and support the brilliant creators who put so much time and effort into their content.
Whether you’ve followed me since 2020 or stumbled across this site today, you’re more than welcome.
The road to FM27 starts here!
This is the first post on the new website, and hopefully the beginning of another great chapter for CoxieFM.
I’ll be sharing updates as we build towards FM27, including save ideas, plans for the new game and, eventually, the first big adventure of the new era.
I haven’t forgotten the old blogs either. There’s plenty of history there, and I’ll continue pointing people towards my previous work on Medium while this new site grows.
So, if you’ve enjoyed my content in the past, thank you for sticking around. If you’re new here, welcome aboard!
Follow along, get involved in the comments, share your own saves and let’s make FM27 a good one.
The website is new. The save files are waiting. The expectations are unrealistic. And somewhere, a board of directors is about to regret giving me a job.
Let’s get to work!
Cheers,
CoxieFM
